What is physical fitness?

What is physical fitness?

The very concept of “fitness” includes not only a set of exercises aimed at maintaining muscle tone or losing weight. First of all, it is a philosophy of the right way of life. This includes a balanced diet, regular and appropriate exercise programs, avoiding bad habits, etc. Following a new lifestyle, a person improves health, acquires a more attractive appearance, becomes active, elastic and resistant to stress, and the aging process slows down. The selection of programs is so diverse that everyone can find a workout for themselves, taking into account their goals and general physical condition, age and gender.

Pros and cons of fitness

Like any sport, fitness also has its pros and cons.

However, there are many other benefits, so it’s worth talking about them first.

  1. Improve the general physical condition (coordination of movements is corrected, flexibility is developed, posture is straightened).
  2. Get rid of excess weight (regular exercise combined with proper nutrition burns fat, muscles “come” to their places).
  3. Metabolism improves (metabolism and digestion of food accelerate, the person feels light inside).
  4. Immunity is strengthened (colds will occur less often and the body will tolerate them more easily).
  5. Better self-esteem (thanks to an attractive body).
  6. Improved mood (physical exercises produce endorphins, which help you deal with stress faster).
  7. Improves the cardiovascular system (especially during cardio exercises).

In addition, after choosing sports during pregnancy (there are special exercises), a woman experiences toxicosis, drowsiness much less often, her back does not hurt, childbirth occurs faster and without complications. Recovery is also quick, it is especially easy to return the previous tone of the abdominal muscles.

There are no disadvantages as such: there are difficulties and peculiarities for some categories of people.

  1. Physical activity is contraindicated for all those who suffer from oncological diseases, arrhythmias, tachycardia, have suffered serious injuries and/or have undergone surgery (a rehabilitation process is first necessary). Therefore, these people should consult their doctor before going to the gym.
  2. Intense exercise is incompatible with a strict diet. It is necessary to have a correct and balanced diet. Under no circumstances should you exhaust yourself with fasting and training at the same time.
  3. Improper operating performance. To avoid injuries, it is recommended to perform the exercises for the first time under the control of a trainer.

However, even with minor health problems, fitness classes have no contraindications. The most important thing is to inform the instructor about this in time, so that he can adjust the load or choose a specific set of exercises for you.

Exercise rules for everyone

When choosing sports training, it is important to follow several important rules. This way you will be guaranteed to get the desired results without hurting yourself.

  1. It is impossible to train long and often at the same time.
  2. The duration of a workout directly depends on the sport chosen. You should go to the gym 3-4 times a week for 60-90 minutes (in the initial training phase). If you choose belly dancing, yoga, twerking or other non-strength sports, the number of sessions can be increased to five per week (45-60 minutes each). It’s important to remember that recovering and resting your body is just as important as the workout itself.
  3. It is necessary to eat properly. Training will not be successful if you do not revise your diet: eliminate fatty foods, add more fresh vegetables, drink more water, eat sweets and pastries as little as possible, give up alcohol.
  4. During the exercise you need to carefully follow the correct technique, listen to the coach’s advice, not be distracted and not talk.

If you choose a fitness philosophy and clearly follow all the above advice, literally in a couple of months you will not only change externally, but also feel the freshness of your mind, a surge of strength and an improvement in your general physical condition. You will be able to enjoy life in harmony with your body and spirit!
