How beneficial is yoga? Let’s consider the main disadvantages and advantages of yoga. Is it worth spending time on yoga for a person living a healthy lifestyle?
Yoga originated in India between the third and second millennium BC. It is to this period that the seals with images of people performing yoga poses, found on the banks of the Indus River, belong.
Modern yoga has many directions and styles. The main ones are: Ijengara, Ashtanga yoga, Bikram yoga, Vini yoga, Yogabit, Kundalini, Power yoga, Trai yoga, Hatha yoga.
What are yoga classes?
Yoga classes consist of three parts: initial, main and final. Their specificity depends on the chosen direction of yoga.
The session can begin with chanting a mantra, a short relaxation or a warm-up. For a beginner it is important to carefully follow what the teacher does and try not to miss small details.
The main part usually consists of doing exercises. When performing asanas you need to listen to your senses and stop the exercise if you suddenly feel pain or severe discomfort.
At the end of the class, students lie on the mats with their eyes closed and perform the so-called “corpse pose” – shavasana. It allows you to reach the maximum level of relaxation and recovery after the session. The duration of shavasana depends on the style of yoga you choose.
In general, this is how yoga is practiced. But is yoga beneficial?

Cons of yoga
High tuition fees and difficulty finding a real teacher. Teaching yoga is a real paradise for all kinds of charlatans and sectarians.
Possibility of injuries and aggravation of old diseases – if practiced incorrectly, not only common injuries (strains, dislocations, etc.) are at risk, but also the development of chronic diseases of the internal organs and musculoskeletal system.
Yoga is neither fitness nor sport, it cannot be practiced as an optional activity: either you make it your lifestyle or you fail.
